Dear Director Larkins and Dean Burgess:

 

The International Mycological Association, which represents at least 30,000 mycologists throughout the world, has bestowed its first awards for young mycologists with exceptional records.

 

Your Professor A. Elizabeth (Besty) Arnold is the first recipient of the IMA Young Mycologist Award for North America, the A. H. R. Buller Medal.  Needless-to-say, the competition in North America among those who work on fungi and received their Ph.D. no earlier than 2000 was intense.  Professor Arnold has an exceptional record and she and you at the University of Arizona should be very proud.  Professor Arnold's award will be noted in the December issue of IMA Fungus, http://www.imafungus.org/.
