Hello All,

 

As usual, we will pull down a copy of your APR from the website for the Peer
Review Committee.    But, if you want to add any documents to your Peer
Review packets - such as TCE, letters and such, please give them to Joy
Rogers-Caron in Forbes 303D.

Dear PLS faculty,

 

In case you hadn't thought about it, here is your first 2012 assignment!  I
also have to prepare the annual report for the School of Plant Sciences.
Please let me know of any awards, recognition, major grants and research
accomplishments you received during the past year, as the Dean would want to
hear about them.  And remember, first impressions are lasting impressions!

CALS Department Heads and Directors,

Attached is a memo from me regarding Annual Performance Reports (APRs) for
CY 2011.  Please see that this memo and the attachment are distributed to
all faculty in your unit.  If you need hard copies, please contact Bethany
Rutledge with the number of copies you need.

The deadline for this year's reports is January 20, 2012.

 

As you conduct annual reviews with your faculty, please see that any new or
revised position descriptions have been forwarded to me for signature.  An
up-to-date position description for each faculty member should be on file
with the Dean's Office.  

 

Annual reviews for all tenure- or continuing-track faculty should include a
component which addresses their progress toward tenure or continuing status
(this can be omitted for faculty who have just completed their three-year
review).  If somebody is really struggling, I'd like to know about it.
Please send me an assessment of their progress and a plan for improvement.

Also note that the Provost's Office has indicated that only a rating of "1"
is considered unsatisfactory on the rating scale and subject to a Faculty
Development Plan if the "1" is given in a single area of deficiency.  If the
overall rating is a "1" then a Performance Improvement Plan is necessary.
Please use whole numbers in your ratings as when we report our statistics to
the Provost's Office, we are required to submit whole numbers.
