Dear University Faculty/Staff:
My name is Tim Xu, and I am the current Director of Public Relations-Elect
at the Journal of Young Investigators (JYI). I am writing to make you aware
of several exciting opportunities for your students to participate in our
organization. We deeply appreciate your dedication to the sciences and hope
that you will continue to encourage student involvement in research at your
institution.
To tell you a bit about our organization, JYI is the premier science journal
for undergraduates and is run entirely by talented students from over 50
academic institutions located in nearly a dozen countries. Featured in
Nature, The New York Times, and The Chronicle on Higher Education, among
others, JYI aims to promote undergraduate science research through monthly
publications of scientific manuscripts, features and news articles, and
information pertinent to careers in science. Please see the attached Fact
Sheet of our organization or visit our website at jyi.org <http://jyi.org/>
for further details about our operations.
Students interested in joining our staff are encouraged to submit
applications for available positions. All JYI staff members contribute
their time on an unpaid basis, so a strong passion for promoting scientific
research is desired. We are currently actively seeking candidates for the
following positions:
. Senior News and Features Editor
. Director of the Careers Center
. Director of Human Resources
. Science Journalist
. Research Associate Editors
. Career Researcher
. Human Resources Officer
. Public Relations Graphics Designers
We are also soliciting submissions for our research departments, which
include Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Physical Sciences and Mathematics,
and Psychology and Social Sciences. Our editorial staff members carefully
review and consider manuscripts for publication on our website. Senior
honors theses and summer research papers are especially welcomed.
We hope you will take the time to share these opportunities for involvement
in JYI with your students. If you would prefer not to receive the
occasional email from us, please simply respond to this email with
"Unsubscribe" in the subject. Lastly, if there is another individual at
your institution who you think would be interested in JYI, we invite you to
forward his or her contact information.
Thanks so much for your help!
Sincerely,
Tim Xu
