This grant is a good idea. Do you have faculty interested in participating
in an ethics grant? If so, contact Chris directly. Thanks in advance.

Michael Gill (copied here) of the Philosophy Department will be applying
for a $5M NSF grant under the heading "Ethics in Science, Mathematics, and
Engineering On-line Resource Center".

(See: http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2010/nsf10547/nsf10547.htm)

The RFP invites proposals to create an on-line site rich with
useful/applicable content in the intersection of ethics and the
NSF-supported areas in science, math and engineering. Michael's proposal,
among other things, will propose the creation of content in the general
areas of information ethics and the biological and physical sciences.

The first step in the NSF application process requires Michael to
submit a brief letter of intent to NSF by April 30. If NSF smiles on
the letter of intent, then Michael would thereafter proceed with a
full proposal.

Michael would be very glad to include science faculty whose research and
teaching might profit from their involvement in this project.

May I ask you please to suggest faculty who may be interested and to
forward this message to those who may be interested in being named as
Senior Researchers in the April 30 letter of intent?

Thanks for considering this.
