The Arbor Day Foundation has designated the University of Arizona as a 2009
Tree Campus USA university. The UA, the oldest continually managed green
space in Arizona, is one of just over 100 college and university campuses
around the country with a Tree Campus USA designation. Elizabeth Davison,
director of the UA Campus Arboretum, will receive an award at a presentation
at the Arizona Capitol as part of the state's Arbor Day celebration on April
23. The nonprofit Arbor Day Foundation, along with its nearly 1 million
members, aims to inspire people to "plant, nurture and celebrate trees."
