Subject: Announcement for Agriculture Opportunities in Afghanistan
Employment Opportunity Announcements for the United States Government
Reconstruction and Development effort in Afghanistan.
Below please find Job Announcements posted by the United States Department
of Agriculture (USDA) and the United States Agency for International
Development (USAID) related to the U.S. Government's Reconstruction and
Development effort in Afghanistan.
The U.S. Government's integrated Agriculture Program is a major component of
the U.S. reconstruction and development effort in Afghanistan. The
agriculture strategy is a "whole-of-USG" approach, drawing on the technical
and managerial capacities of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), U.S.
Agency for International Development (USAID), and the U.S. Department of
Defense Agriculture Development Teams (ADTs). The strategy focuses on two
major goals:
Goal 1: Increase agricultural sector jobs and income
1.1 Increase agricultural productivity by increasing
farmers' access to inputs and effective extension services
1.2 Invigorate agribusiness by increasing linkages between
farmers, markets, credit, and trade corridors
1.3 Rehabilitate watersheds and improve irrigation infrastructure
Goal 2: Increase Afghans' confidence in their government
Increasing the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock's capacity
to deliver services and promote the private sector and farmer associations
through direct budget and technical assistance
POSITION POSTINGS
-- USDA/Foreign Agriculture Service has posted up to 60 positions. Please
use following link for additional information, and search by Foreign
Agricultural Service: <http://jobsearch.usajobs.gov/agency.aspx>
http://jobsearch.usajobs.gov/agency.aspx.
-- USAID has posted six agriculture positions, with descriptions attached.
While there are overlaps in the position descriptions, in general, the
USAID postitions will emphasize the development and management of programs
that involve the delivery of services through implementing partners such as
contractors and grantees. The USDA positions will focus on the direct
delivery of technical expertise and capacity building.
Please note - In addition, USAID has numerous non-agriculture opportunities
in Afghanistan. Please visit the following USAID link for opportunities as
a U.S. Personal Services Contractor.
