Subject: Enhancing Peer Review at NIH - shorter application
In 2007, the NIH started exploring ways to enhance the peer review process,
including making changes to the scoring process, and proposing shorter
applications for R01s and other mechanisms.
Shorter applications (i.e., reduced page limits) will be phased in
gradually, starting with January 2010 due dates, so it is important to
review the funding opportunity announcement (FOA) to ensure you are meeting
page limit requirements.

Please forward this to your faculty/staff who work on NIH proposals. We
will send more information as it becomes available.
