Dear CALS Employees,

On Friday, the Network Lab began a conversion process that will greatly improve the speed of email delivery. At the end of the day, that conversion looked to be progressing successfully. However, on Saturday morning, we found that previous email was missing from our Outlook Inboxes and personal email folders. Staff at the Network Lab worked all day to find a solution to this problem. No one strategy was identified that solved every problem. In particular, although email could be restored to desktops/laptops/tablets/phones, an unresolved issue remains for IPhone and IPad users. These devices show an incorrect delivery date for old messages. At this point, we had to make a decision and that was to provide full access to all email as soon as possible to our computers and to wait to address the IPhone an
d IPad
issue.

Once that decision was made, a two part process began involving writing scripts to first convert Inboxes and then to convert personal mail folders. The status is that inbox conversions were completed at 02:59 AM this morning and the conversion of all mail folders was completed at 07:19 AM. We will continue to monitor the system throughout the day to make sure no other issues arise. We will also continue to assess and test options for correcting the delivery date for old email on IPhones and IPads. However, you should be receiving all new email with correct dates and times on those devices now.

We will provide other updates as more information becomes known.
