</o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--></head><body lang=EN-US link=blue vlink=purple><div class=WordSection1><p class=MsoNormal>Dear CALS Personnel,<br> <br>I am pleased to announce that Dr. Colin Kaltenbach has agreed to postpone retirement and has been appointed by Provost Hay as Interim Dean and Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station until a permanent dean arrives.<br> <br>In addition, I have made the following appointments. Dr. Elaine Marchello will serve as Interim Associate Dean for Academic Programs. Dr. Kirk Astroth has been appointed as Interim Director of Arizona Cooperative Extension. Both Dr. Marchello and Dr. Astroth will serve in their respective roles as members of the CALS Executive Council until searches are completed to fill the positions on a permanent basis.<br> <br>Further, I am pleased to announce Dr. Barbara Hutchinson as Director of Educational Communications and Technology (ECAT), Kurt Nolte as Interim Director of the Yuma Agricultural Center in addition to his duties as Yuma County Director of Cooperative Extension, and Peter Warren as Director of Pima County Extension.<br> <br>These appointments are effective July 1, 2011. I want to express my thanks to Colin, Kirk, Elaine, Barb, Kurt, and Peter for accepting these appointments and guiding our college through this transition.<br> <br>As to my future plans, with the blessing of one of the world’s great women, I will become President of the University effective August 1.
