Dear SPLS community,

With this note, please find our first installment of a small newsletter-type update for our School. Please review it for good news, updates, thanks, a remembrance, important information regarding the submission of grant proposals, and a starting point for celebrating our strengths as a unit. As you'll see, there is a link at the bottom right of the first page for announcements/information – please submit by close of business on Tuesdays for inclusion in our future updates.

A special highlight in this issue is the terrific news that Dr. Samantha Orchard has received the University of Arizona Provost Award for Innovation in Teaching. This prestigious, university-wide award celebrates Samantha's dedication and vision in all that she does in instruction, program development, and student support. Please join me in congratulating Samantha for this wonderful and exceptionally well-earned recognition.
