Dear SPLS community,

With this note, please find our latest newsletter – another 'summer edition' with good news, kudos, things to note, some words of thanks, and our first New Faculty spotlights.

As you'll see on page 1, I am heading out of the office for some long-planned fieldwork in the Arctic. I'll be traveling for the next two weeks, but I anticipate being in contact daily and will continue to deliver my duties as Interim Director. If you have a matter requiring very urgent attention while I am away, please contact Kevin Teres (kteres@ arizona.edu) – except on July 5, when he will be out of the office, too. He suggests that on that day, we contact Amanda Stevens – amanda84 at arizona.edu.

I will be back in the office on July 23. By that time, if not before, I hope we will have new information regarding coming year's financial outlook, updates on our business office, and more.

For now, I wish everyone a happy Independence Day holiday – and I look forward to being in touch.
