[Plantsci] Update on plant sciences interim school director appointment and direct administrative responsibility.

Dear colleagues,

I want to update you on the status of plant sciences interim school director appointment.


  1.  The appointment of an interim school director is supported by the provost and is awaiting presidential decision.



  1.  I have identified the qualified nominees, they are: Judy Brown (School of Plant Sciences), Dieter Steklis (School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences), and Ramin Yadegari (School of Plant Sciences). I want to thank them all for considering appointment.



  1.  I have invited each qualified nominee to:



     *   Meet with all school faculty and staff for NO MORE than 30 minutes to discuss their leadership philosophy and achievements as well as management qualifications and achievements. A review document will be provided by Jeannie Mclain for school employees to complete either electronically or as paper documents to return to Jeannie within 24 hours of each meeting ending. These meetings will be organized and scheduled by Marc Orbach and Leslie Bonilla.



     *   Meet individually for 30 minutes each with the: School of Plant Sciences Business Officer; CALES Associate Dean for Career and Academic services; Arizona Cooperative Extension Director; Arizona Experiment Station Director; CALES CFO; Academic Unit Head designee; Faculty council designee; Staff council designee. These meetings will be scheduled by the School of Plant Sciences business office under the supervision of Leslie Bonilla. The same review document will be provided for these people to complete and return as above.



     *   I will review all feedback and appoint the interim school director.



  1.  Effective at 5pm this evening, I assumed direct responsibility for the school.
