Subject: Best wishes for July 4!!
Dear all:
Please accept my best wishes on this national holiday of the United States! I hope it brings you an opportunity to relax with family and friends, and to reflect on what we, in the School, have achieved, and aim to achieve in the future.
I very much value all your many contributions, and it goes without saying that the School would not be where it is without these contributions. We face an increasingly uncertain future, and our redoubled efforts will be essential to address existential threats (drought, heat, being obvious) that are specific to Arizona agriculture and beyond. I am very confident in your individual and combined expertise and talents.
That being so, let me encourage optimism. Science is advancing at an extraordinary rate and this will only accelerate. Hold on for the ride, communicate freely with your colleagues, and always aim to provide cutting-edge discovery in our unit, and equally cutting-edge educational experiences for our students!!
Best wishes, and my sincere thanks for all you do!
David
