Subject: Herbarium Lunch, this week - Th 4/27
Please join us for this week's presentation
Lindy Brigham
Plagiobothrys arizonicus: outstanding in the field of Borage
The talk will focus on the beautiful napthoquinones produced in several native borages, Plagiobothrys in particular, and the possible reasons for their production.
Lindy Brigham is a retired Plant Pathologist (University of Arizona School of Plant Sciences) with an interest in understanding why organisms create complex chemistries. Her professional work involved the study of plant properties that protect against disease development. That led to the discovery of native Southwest plants (mostly borages) with interesting chemical characteristics. After finding several species in her own backyard she has continued to study and monitor them for the last 30 years.
Thursday, 4/27, 12 noon, UA Herbarium (Herring Hall). As always, feel free to bring your lunch if you are comfortable doing so.
We will also live-stream the event; if you would like to participate by zoom, please join us here:

This is our second to last event for the academic year; for our full schedule, please visit this page<https://cals.arizona.edu/herbarium/content/herbarium-lunch-talks>, and please feel free to contact us about any aspect of plant biodiversity!
