Employee Assistance Counseling Expansion

Life & Work Connections is excited to announce an exploratory partnership for expanded employee assistance counseling services: https://lifework.arizona.edu/counseling-coaching/employee-assistance-counseling.

All benefits-eligible employee and their household members now have access to up to 12 free, confidential counseling sessions per personal concern per year; extended appointment times, including evenings and weekends; a statewide network of providers to accommodate diverse cultural, clinical, and location preferences; arrange of service modes, including in-person, phone, video, and chat options; and English-and/or Spanish-speaking counselors, as well as translation services for other languages.

Virtual Group Therapy Opportunity - April 6-May 11
Interest form submission is required by March 29.

Life & Work Connections is partnering with the University of Arizona Behavioral Health Clinic to offer a free, confidential online support group to help University employees and their dependents age 18 and older learn positive coping skills for dealing with symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress.

The group will meet on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time for six weeks, starting April 6 and ending May 11. Group members' identities will be known only to group leaders, and a brief tutorial on how to use the meeting platform will be provided before the sessions begin.

Cultivating Hope Workshop - April 7: 10:00-10:45 a.m.

Feeling hopeful can be challenging, especially when you're faced with adverse circumstances. Hope is more than an emotion, however, and you can grow its presence in your life through careful planning and deliberate action. Employee assistance counselor Bob Cunningham, MS, LPC, guides you through a three-pronged approach for building a positive mindset.(This is the first of two live meetings in the workshop. After four weeks of email activities, the workshop will finish with a final live session. Registration for both sessions is required.)

Do you feel a little nervous when you think about asking your loved one what they want to happen if they become incapacitated? Preparation can help you to approach that life-planning conversation with compassion and confidence -and to start considering your own wishes as well. Dependent care advisor Eileen Lawless, MSW, will offer guidance and share resources for discussing quality-of-life decisions and planning.(This workshop begins with a 30-minute live introduction to the topic and continues with on-demand videos and worksheets.)

Suicide Prevention Training for Parents - April 15: 10:00-11:30 a.m.

QPR stands for question, persuade, and refer -three simple steps you can take to help save a life from suicide. Just as people use CPR to save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor to help.

This session is intended to teach parents how to recognize suicidal behavior in their children and to ask important questions.
