Subject: Invitation to Participate in Ecosystem Resilience Workshop – Please Register Using Link

Greetings,

We are writing to invite you to participate in a two-day virtual workshop sponsored by the Center for Climate Adaptation Science and Solutions (CCASS)<https://ccass.arizona.edu/> and the Southwest Climate Adaptation Science Center (SW CASC)<https://www.swcasc.arizona.edu/>. This event, led by Don Falk, is part of a new theme area focused on the intersection of climate adaptation and ecosystem resilience. It will be held Tuesday, May 5 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm MST and Wednesday, May 6 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm MST. Please note that Arizona stays on Mountain Standard Time, which is equivalent to Pacific Daylight Time.

Ecosystem resilience is an emerging area in ecological research, as well as a central issue for land management. We believe that there is the potential for building greater collaboration, including funding proposals, in this area. This workshop will focus specifically on ecosystem transformations after large-scale mortality and disturbance events, as well as under the chronic stress of changing climate. The immediate objective of this event is to explore key uncertainties in the scientific understanding of ecosystem resilience, particularly with regard to providing guidance to the land management community. A longer-term goal is to build out this theme area within CCASS, focused on developing an interdisciplinary network of researchers on the UA campus and in collaborating institutions around this theme. This event is a follow-on to a previous virtual workshop led by Dave Breshears on the impacts of heat waves on ecosystems. If you missed that event, you can view the webinar recording here<https://arizona.box.com/s/uhi3u2el6au2b1dvrnq0pq2pguxc817d>.

The agenda for the workshop is attached. We would like to emphasize that although this is a virtual event, we hope that everyone who joins will actively engage in the conversation. If you plan on attending, please register at this link<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf9sKT2ExQZw2n-YyO9pNwlxRBYGxWfRfTapHeg1AAHRKMKwA/viewform?usp=sf_link> as soon as possible. We will then follow up with Zoom meeting information to the email address provided in the form.

We hope you are able to join!

Best regards,

Kathy Jacobs, Director, Center for Climate Adaptation Science and Solutions
Don Falk, Professor, School of Natural Resources and the Environment
