The BIO5 Institute and the UA Data7|Data Science Institute, together with CyVerse and the UA Center for Biomedical Informatics & Statistics will host a comprehensive genomics analysis Data Carpentry workshop on May 30 and 31, 2019 at the UA.
Cost: FREE
What: Genomics Data Carpentry Workshop
Who: Practicing and aspiring research scientists in genomics and related research fields
When: May 30 & 31, 2019 (Two full week days)
Where: UA Campus
Info: http://bit.ly/2ZMkn7U
Apply: http://bit.ly/2PBceP7
The workshop targets graduate students, postdocs, technicians, and faculty; undergraduate students can be admitted if space is available. Learn the foundational skills necessary to be productive on a genomics research teams, including:
* Genomics Project Organization and Management
* Data Wrangling and Processing for Genomics
* Introduction to the Command Line for Genomics
* Introduction to Cloud Computing for Genomics
* Introduction to R for Genomics
As computing skills are becoming increasingly important and essential for research scientists, the Software and Data Carpentry foundations (now: "The Carpentries", http://carpentries.org/) have been playing major roles in developing professional development in practical and technical computing. Since 1998 volunteers have been teaching researchers in science, engineering, medicine, and related disciplines the essential computing skills they need to get more done in less time, and with less pain.
Data Carpentry develops and teaches workshops on the fundamental data skills needed to conduct research. Its target audience is researchers who have little to no prior computational experience, and its lessons are domain specific, building on learners' existing knowledge to enable them to quickly apply skills learned to their own research.
Apply A.S.A.P. as our workshops tend to fill fast!
