Dear HR Alliance Colleagues,

We are writing to provide two important notes about employees’ paychecks tomorrow, August 30.

  1.  Academic-year employees’ paychecks will reflect one week rather than two
The 2019–2020 academic year began in the middle of a pay period, on August 19. Paychecks for academic-year employees who are paid over 9 months will reflect pay for work performed during a one-week period (August 19 through August 25).

  2.  Tomorrow’s payday is the third in August
We have 26 paydays every year, but only 24 of those paydays include voluntary benefits deductions. When a third payday occurs within a month, there are no deductions for medical and dental insurance, supplemental retirement contributions, and other benefits. Mandatory retirement deductions continue on all paydays.
