Dear Campus IT Directors,
UAWiFi, the University of Arizona’s fast and secure wireless network, was upgraded on May 11, 2019 to disable the Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 encryption protocol for wifi.

Staying at the forefront of security advances is an important priority for the University, but Google, one of our key OS vendors, still does not yet support TLS 1.1 for wifi connectivity in the stable release of their OS. Therefore, we are re-supporting TLS 1.0 encryption for UAWiFi for the start of the Fall 2019 semester and until Google has this capability available in their OS platform.

TLS 1.0 encryption protocol for UAWiFi will be reinstated tonight at 2 a.m. Tuesday, August 13. No network outages are anticipated during this change.

Sincerely,
-BTB
