Director: Cynthia Stokes, School of Music
An opera staged in the beautiful ENR2 courtyard--how cool is that? The story line features the dangerously gifted Dr. Rappaccini, who dares to tamper with the laws of nature and science, and his daughter, trapped in her father's sequestered garden filled with toxic flowers of fatal beauty. Attendees are invited to attend panel discussions prior to the performance at both at 5:30pm and 6:15pm. In addition, there will be a post-performance talk-back after each show.

Can we successfully sustain our desert rivers with waste water? Drew Eppehimer, a PhD student studying Arid Lands Resource Sciences, is currently trying to answer that question. His most recent project on the treatment of water in the Colorado River Basin was awarded the prestigious Babbitt Dissertation Fellowship by the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy in August. Eppehimer's doctoral research<https://arizona.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5b0ddadaf2ab8f8299b7305fb&id=286eec2d53&e=20b8d7de7b> addresses the use of recycled water to re-create desert river ecosystems lost to groundwater pumping and land use change. His project advances the study of diversity and structure of aquatic macroinvertebrate communities, water quality and quantity issues, as well as the impacts of microplastic pollution on aquatic communities in wastewater-dominated streams.
