Congratulations on EEB Carson Fellows
Lorah Patterson and Adam Chmurzynski, both PhD students in Brian Enquist's lab, have been awarded prestigious Carson Fellowships form the Institute of the Environment. An article by UA News can be found here<https://arizona.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=db9ec68208a01ab34170f765f&id=e174b0b722&e=71068ef53d>.

Congratulations, Russ Monson!
NSF is recommending Russ's 3-year, $895K grant for funding. The grant is entitled: Forest carbon-water interactions in relation to the North American Monsoon climate system, and it is being recommended by the Ecosystem Science Cluster in the Division of Environmental Biology. The research will be conducted in the Tree Ring Lab, with Malcolm Hughes as Co-I, and focuses on reconstructing forest carbon and water-cycle processes using stable isotope and radiocarbon ratios in the earlywood and latewood components of annual rings in Ponderosa pine.

Postdoc Position in MCB with Dr. Megha Padi
Postdoctoral positions are available immediately in the area of computational genomics and network science in the Padi Lab<https://arizona.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=db9ec68208a01ab34170f765f&id=5230faed38&e=71068ef53d> in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Arizona. We develop methods for integrating multi-'omics data and investigating how cellular networks are altered in complex diseases and phenotypes, with a view to identifying therapeutic strategies and advancing precision medicine. Current areas of focus include 1) mathematical modeling of "phase transitions" in network topology, 2) dynamics of regulatory networks during tumorigenesis, 3) combining tissue-specific networks and cancer mutations to predict the drug response, and 4) modeling how genetic variants can perturb network modules and drive complex phenotypes. We offer a supportive and interdisciplinary environment with connections to computational and biomedical centers across campus.
We are looking for motivated individuals who want to apply their quantitative skills to tackle important problems in biology. A Ph.D. degree in physics, biology, computer sciences, mathematics, systems/computational biology, or a related field is preferred, along with excellent communication and programming skills (e.g. Python, Matlab, or C++).
To apply, please upload a research statement describing your accomplishments and interests, your CV, and the names and contact information of three references online at U<https://arizona.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=db9ec68208a01ab34170f765f&id=94c81cec54&e=71068ef53d>A Careers<https://arizona.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=db9ec68208a01ab34170f765f&id=ece7121b4f&e=71068ef53d> (Job # P20503<https://arizona.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=db9ec68208a01ab34170f765f&id=c2d2c224f4&e=71068ef53d>).
