Hi Everyone,

I would like to thank those of you already signed up to participate in the Tucson Festival of Books and to ask those of you who have not signed up to please participate.

Everyone is very welcome - faculty, staff, postdocs, and grad students. Manning our tables is a lot of fun and is a great opportunity to meet the community and tell them about some of the great things we are doing in the School of Plant Sciences. The sign up link is:

Subject: [Plantsci] Plant Sciences at the Tucson Festival of Books

>From the Outreach Committee.
Once again the School of Plant Sciences will participate in Science City during the Tucson Festival of Books. The event will be on Saturday and Sunday, March 14-15, 9 am to 5 pm each day. In Science City, the School's presentation will include two tables with 3 separate modules of interactive content. There will be other presentations during the Tucson Festival of Books that host more specific content from the School of Plant Sciences, such as the Plant and Fungal Herbaria, the Arboretum, and the MycoCats, but the SPLS tables will present our School's broad research program and mission.
As you might have surmised, we need personnel to man these tables during the entire 2 days. Our presentation will require 3 persons minimum, and we will rotate our presenters in 2-hour shifts. This means we will need 24 2-hour shifts for the whole event; set up and take down shifts will require an extra hour. Please encourage personnel from your lab to volunteer time for this event and we hope that faculty, staff, postdocs and graduate students will all participate. The 3 interactive modules will each be easily directed and all information necessary to lead these outreach activities will be provided. This is a great opportunity to show your Plant Science spirit and help out the School's outreach effort, so join the fun at the Tucson Festival of Books!
To sign up for a time slot, please follow the Doddle link below. Additional information for participants will follow. Thanks for your help!
