Subject: Building Survey for Cellular Coverage Project
Mitchel,
My name is Ryan Duitman and I work for University Information Technology Services (UITS) as a project manager. We are currently working on a multi-stage project to install a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) on the main campus. The purpose of this project is to provide greater cellular capacity and signal strength. This is accomplished by installing cellular antennas inside buildings very similar to the antenna used for UA WiFi. The process of determining where antennas need to placed requires the completion of a radio frequency (RF) survey. This survey is performed by a technician walking through buildings while carrying a device to measure the RF signal that penetrates the building from the outside. The technician will not need to enter maintenance closets or restricted areas. Generally speaking, they will not need to enter individual offices unless an office space or room is behind other spaces. In such cases, we will work with you before entering. We have contracted with a company, ZK Services Inc., to perform these building surveys. The technician will be dressed in identifying clothing and does have a UA CatCard.
I have received your name as the building manager or alternative building manager from the Facilities Management building managers list. I am reaching out to you to let you know when we are proposing to enter your building to perform the survey. We are planning on performing these surveys during normal business hours 8am - 5pm during the week listed below. I would also ask that you notify those in your building concerning this survey.
Proposed Date: 6/23 - 6/27
Estimated Survey Duration: .75 days
Building Name: Shantz
Building Address: 1177 E 4 St
The RF signal data will be collected, analyzed, and used in determining if and where cellular antennas need to be placed in your building. If it is determined that antenna(s) are needed in your respective buildings, future access will be coordinated and scheduled for installation.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email or phone (626-1880). I thank you in advance for your patience as we perform this step of the project.
