[Plantsci] Important - SPLS Power Outage - PLEASE READ

Hi Everyone,

 

As you may have heard, there will be a 24 hour power outage in Forbes
beginning on Friday, January 25, 2013 so that Facilities Management can
replace the main transformer to improve the electricity in the building.
This outage will affect everyone in the School, not just our colleagues
working in Forbes.  

 

Here are instructions for the shutdown, please read them carefully and
comply.   

 

1. Shut Down: Friday, January 25, 2013

At 1 PM on Friday, Mario will shut down our 32 servers, so please log off
all lab and office computers by 1 PM.  Mario will also shut down all Admin
Staff and Forbes faculty laboratory computers.

 

There won't be any computer/domain/server or email access during the power
outage.  In addition, no will be able to enter Forbes.  

 

Faculty working in Forbes will receive separate instructions about
non-computer shut down procedures and help. 

 

2.  Start Up: sometime on Sunday, January 27, 2013

When power is restored, Mario will start up the servers.

 

Mario and Donna-Rae will be setting up a system to notify you when computers
can be turned on - you will hear from them soon.
