[Plantsci] Hans VanEtten Retirement Party- January 19th

Dear School of Plant Sciences members,

I hope you are all enjoying this holiday break. 

At the end of this month Hans VanEtten will retire from the University of Arizona after 24 years of exemplary contributions to both the University and to the fields of Plant Pathology and Mycology.  His contributions to research, teaching, service, and mentorship are numerous, and he has been honored by being named a Fellow by both the American Phytopathological Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.  To recognize Hans' outstanding academic career we are holding a celebration in true Fungal Genetics style, including dinner and dancing with a live band, at Old Tucson Studios on Jan 19th from 6 pm to midnight with friends and colleagues both near and far.  We will also have tributes to Hans from various times of his career.  It should be a fine time for all. Over 50 former colleagues, students, post-docs and technicians from out of town have confirmed they will be attending from all over the world.

The whole School of Plant Sciences is invited to attend this fun event.  Costs for the evening will be $35 per faculty/staff or $15 per graduate student.   In order to get a count on attendees, please let me know by January 4th if you will be able to attend and if your spouse/significant others will be attending.   We hope to see you all at Hans' retirement celebration to send him out in style.
