ON Behalf of Dr. Tanya Quist:

The School of Plant Sciences has an opportunity to send faculty, research
staff, graduate and undergraduate students as judges to the Southern Arizona
Regional Science and Engineering Fair (SARSEF). This science fair attracts
the best science students and teachers in Southern Arizona and the
visibility here could have a positive impact on future interest in our
School.

JUDGES AND AWARDS INFORMATION:
We would like to provide judging for projects of High School, Middle School
and Elementary School age classes and award a framed certificate from our
School to students with exemplary plant sciences and microbiological
projects. Depending on the number of volunteer judges we have available, we
will expand the number of awards we distribute. With 4 judges, we can
provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards at the HS level. With 8 or 12 judges,
we'll extend awards to Middle and Elementary School students, respectively.
For each award distributed, we will have an opportunity to publicize our
School's programs, so we would like to have many opportunities to present!

TIME COMMITMENT REQUIRED:
Judges will need to be available on Tuesday March 13 at the Tucson
Convention Center. Elementary School entries will be judged based on the
display only. However, judges may also choose to interview student
scientists for Middle School and High School entries at the following times:
Middle School 11-noon
High School 1-3pm

Judges will need to meet to get organized and coordinate judging criteria
etc on Monday, afternoon (3/12/12).

FOR MORE INFORMATION:

To sign up or for more information, please contact Tanya Quist, PLS
Recruiting and Outreach Committee Chair, by Friday 3/9 (621-1582 or
