Commemorative Weekend

You are cordially invited to attend the Mike Cusanovich Commemorative
Weekend

to be held March 2-3, 2012

SYMPOSIUM

Mike Cusanovich was a long-time faculty member in the Department of
Chemistry and Biochemistry, as well as Vice President for Research for many
years. During his tenure at The University of Arizona, Mike was always
engaged in student teaching, both in the classroom and in the laboratory,
and was a mentor and scientific resource for students and colleagues at all
levels. This weekend of events is to honor Mike's memory and to raise
scholarship funds to benefit students through The Mike Cusanovich CBC
Scholarship Fund.

The symposium will start at 8 am on Friday, March 2 at the DoubleTree by
Hilton Hotel Reid Park. The registration fee, which includes a continental
breakfast and lunch, is $20 for students and $75 for everyone else. You may
register online at http://www.cbc.arizona.edu/cusanovich_memorial, or you
may download a registration form (also found at the above webpage) and pay
via check.

CALL FOR POSTERS

A poster session is part of the day's activities. We encourage faculty,
post-docs and students to submit an abstract at
http://www.cbc.arizona.edu/cusanovich-symposium-call-for-posters by Monday,
Feb. 13, 2012. As a reflection of Mike's diversified interests, we will be
accepting posters from the following general research areas:

Protein Biochemistry: For example: photobiology, electron transport,
photosynthesis, cytochromes, structural biology, enzyme kinetics and protein
purification.

Bioengineering and Biofuel Research: For example: biomedical engineering,
biosensors, algal biofuels, biomass production, bioenergy crops and
biorefining.

GOLF TOURNAMENT

If you knew Mike, you knew how much he loved to play golf. Please plan to
attend the Mike Cusanovich Commemorative Golf Tournament on Saturday, March
3 at the Randolph Golf Course. We will have lots of contests where you might
win a great prize, such as a 5-Day Carnival Cruise. Plus we will have
several hole-in-one contests with prizes of up to $50,000! You may put
together your own foursome, or we will arrange one for you. Register on or
before January 31 to receive the earlybird discounted rate of $125/person,
which includes green fees, golf cart, continental breakfast, lunch and
awards ceremony.

The day will begin at 6:30 am with player registration and continental
breakfast, with a shotgun start at 8 am. You may register at
<http://www.cbc.arizona.edu/cusanovich_memorial>.
