11pm to Sunday, Sept. 11th at 7pm

Subject:               Emergency Data Center Shutdown
 
The UA campus Data Center is home to dozens of IT systems used by virtually
every student, faculty member and staff for services ranging from email, to
payroll and grades. Unfortunately, an electrical failure makes it necessary
to temporarily shut down the entire Data Center this weekend. We apologize
in advance for any inconvenience this repair may cause. To minimize the
impact on you and your peers, the maintenance will begin late Saturday night
at 11pm and continue into Sunday until repairs are completed as quickly as
possible.  Please note that UAccess is normally scheduled for maintenance
every Sunday from 6am until 6pm, so this operation will have minimal impact
on UAccess users.
 
If your plans this weekend include using any campus IT services, please
check the list below to see if your service will be affected.   Meanwhile,
should you have any questions or concerns about this situation, please
contact the 24/7 IT Support Center at (520) 626.TECH (8324).
 
Outage Date and Time: Saturday, Sept. 10 at 11pm to Sunday, Sept. 11th at
7pm
 
Planned Operation: An urgent Data Center power shutdown is required to
replace a failed control board in the main UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply).
This outage is scheduled from 11PM Saturday until 7PM Sunday and will result
in multiple service interruptions
 
Impact to Campus:  This operation will cause disruption for the services
listed below. 
 
NOTE: 
*             D2L will NOT be affected. 
*             UAccess Analytics will be unavailable from 12 noon, Saturday,
Sept. 10th through 6am, Monday, Sept. 12th. There will be no weekend updates
for Student or Research data. If Analytics users look at any of the Student
or Research dashboards on Monday, they will be seeing data as of Thursday,
Sept. 8th. The normal one-day-behind schedule will be restored as of
Tuesday, Sept. 13th. Employee data will not be affected.
