Professional Science Master's in Applied Biosciences (PSM-ABS)

 

Applications are open until Oct 31, 2011 for Spring 2012 Enrollment

 

The University of Arizona Graduate College is pleased to announce that they
are accepting applications for the recently redesigned Graduate
Interdisciplinary Program (GIDP) in Applied Biosciences, leading to the
Professional Science Master's degree (PSM-ABS).

 

The graduate curriculum of the PSM-ABS degree is designed to prepare
students to enter a competitive scientific workforce in industry,
government, or academia. The PSM-ABS consists of both classroom-based and
hands-on training to develop core competencies for entry into the dynamic
applied biosciences workforce. The professional internships,
("cross-training" in workplace skills) include business principles, such
communication, marketing, strategic or financial planning, quality systems,
and regulatory affairs. During a typical two-year course of study, students
will gain a strong understanding of the biological sciences and their
associated applications to real world situations and challenges.

 

The PSM-ABS is divided into specialized tracks. Depending on their
interests, students apply directly to one of these tracks and pursue studies
and workforce development within the tracks, under the guidance of the
following Graduate Program Directors.

 

 *   Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA); Dr. Murat Kacira

 *   Industrial Microbial Biotechnology (IMB); Dr. Istvan Molnar

 *   Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB); Dr. Johnny (Hana) Fares

 *   Medical and Diagnostic Laboratory Sciences (MDLS); Dr. Donna M. Wolk
