Subject: Norm Oebker - June 12, 2011

Dr. Norm Oebker, former Cooperative Extension Vegetable Crops Specialist in
the Department of Plant Sciences, passed away June 12,
2011 at the age of 84. The family is having two memorial services due to
scheduling conflicts with family members. Both are at Fellowship Bible
Church at 6700 E. Broadway. This Sunday, June 26  at 2:00 p.m. 
is the first and Saturday, July 16 at 3:00 p.m. is the second. He died as he
lived, patiently.

He had developed a type of ataxia, (degenerative neuromuscular
disease) shortly after retirement but remained pain-free, mobile, and
mentally sharp until  he broke his hip in February. Then he began a painful
deterioration in and out of hospitals and home nursing care until he died in
hospice June 12. The family, including his wife, Donna, would love to see
any friends and colleagues at his service(s).
