CAMPUS WATCH
THEFT
On December 14, 2011, at approximately 11:25 p.m., a male University of
Arizona student was the victim of a theft while in the vicinity of the UA
Recreation Center located at 1400 E 6th St. The victim was approached by a
male described as white, in his 20's, approximately 6'00" tall with short
light colored hair. He was wearing a long sleeved white shirt and khaki
pants. The victim placed his property on the ground. The suspect then
approached from behind, picked up the victim's property and fled on foot
running south on Highland Avenue. A weapon was not seen or implied. The
victim was not injured during the incident. Anyone with information about
this incident or suspect is requested to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME.
The University of Arizona Police Department would like to take this
opportunity to remind the community of the following Safety Tips:
1. Remain alert and aware of your surroundings and the people in your
vicinity at all times.
2. Save important phones calls for a later time. Talking on cell
phones or using other electronic devices when walking, biking, or driving
are distractions and divert your attention away from your surroundings.
3. At night, travel in well-lighted areas. Avoid "shortcuts" through
dark or deserted areas. Use the buddy system and travel with a group.
4. Utilize ASUA Safe Ride for a free way to travel between UA
buildings and lots at night. Call: 520-621-SAFE.
5. If you feel threatened or suspect you are being followed, walk
toward well-lighted areas where there are people. Call the 9-1-1
immediately!
6. Emergency blue light phones can be found throughout the campus and
give you direct access to UAPD with the push of a button. Know where they
are located at all times.
