And yaaay! We were one of the 7 winners announced last night who will receive 100,000usd. In fact the person who announced us as a winner very much appreciated the big data gap in rangelands and what this platform could contribute towards it - so it was clear
that there was strong support.

It is not a lot of money to set up a global rangelands data platform but at least it is a start, and we already have some interest from another donor. We want to see the platform owned by no single organisation but rather, shared by all of us as supporting,
working and living in rangelands - and I believe if we work together and share data and datasets already existing we will be surprised how much data is already available, as well as identify the major gaps to fill. We are also very keen to see how we can
develop crowd-sourcing ways of collecting relevant data from pastoralists and pastoralists networks/unions bearing in mind any cautions of sharing such data in a global platform.
