Dear Maryam, Thank you for sharing the draft. I want to express my support for Matt's reflections below. If Matt's suggested edit to resolution 4 is not acceptable, I would prefer the original version. Additionally, I believe it is unnecessary

Dear Maryam,

Thank you for sharing the draft.
I want to express my support for Matt's reflections below.
If Matt's suggested edit to resolution 4 is not acceptable, I would prefer the original version.

Additionally, I believe it is unnecessary to specify that the knowledge produced through co-production should be "useful" and "action-oriented". There may be significant value in knowledge that is not immediately understood as "actionable" - and who is to define whether the knowledge is "useful"?

All the best,
Kathrine

Hi Maryam,

Thanks for sharing this. Basing my review on the IRC draft 27apr25-ddb document, my only comments for consideration pertain to Resolution 4: "Commit to inclusive knowledge co-production that involves Indigenous Peoples."

I would encourage tweaking this language, as "involving" Indigenous Peoples doesn't fully capture the idea of co-equal partnerships explicit to the concept of "knowledge co-production" and it could afford an easy avenue for delegates to pay mere lip service through "consultation".

Perhaps something to the effect of: "Commit to inclusive knowledge co-production that upholds Indigenous Peoples' right to self-determination, ensuring their equal participation, leadership, and ownership in all stages of the process."

Additionally, the following sentence is fairly long and would benefit from being broken up (additional copy edit tweaks included below).

"to actively encourage all delegates to respectfully recognize the value of indigenous and local knowledge and acknowledge Indigenous Peoples as the custodians of that knowledge. Furthermore, support to development of solutions that are recognized by diverse stakeholders and that specifically address reflect the aspirtions aspirations of Indigenous Peoples. and effectively bridge the knowledge gap about rangelands and pastoralism through a decade of action on co-production of new knowledge."

Cheers,
Matt

Dear Maryam,

Thank you so much for the opportunity to provide our input to the draft resolutions. I suggest adding mobilize resources in resolution 1 “to raise awareness, build coalitions, mobilize resources, influence national and international policies” and agree with the inputs provided by alliance members

Looking forward to meeting you in IRC 2025

Regards,

Srijana

Dear IYRP Friends

The International Rangeland Congress is meeting 2-6 June 2025 in Adelaide Australia.

The theme of the Congress is ‘Working Together for our Global Rangelands Future’.
(https://irc2025.rangelandcongress.org<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/irc2025.rangelandcongress.org/__;!!KwNVnqRv!ABTq-9asafGggpqIjYgqns0ePbPGy6ZXU474S8NSPNuj18YiGYdJ6eKqPs3veGV9V_2EmmrYj0KIG7weGksEub1UaFw$>). The Congress sub-themes include:

> Valuing rangelands and pastoral systems for their societal contribution;

> Co-design, partnerships, and incorporating traditional knowledge for more enduring rangeland outcomes
> Technology, information systems, communication, and big data to aid monitoring and decision making
> Integrating rangeland ecology into management
> Managing risk – climate and other system shocks and trends
> Livestock production systems in a world of changing drivers

> Multi-functional land use in rangelands – moving beyond niche opportunities

The IRC 2025 is an important event that can contribute to achieving positive impact on healthy rangelands and livelihoods of pastoralists in 2026 and beyond. Many members of the IYRP Global Alliance are attending the congress in person.

The IYRP Global Alliance has an opportunity to submit draft resolutions that will be considered and voted upon by delegates at the end of the Congress. A draft of 5 possible resolutions has been drawn up by the IYRP Global Secretariat as a starter, and we seek your inputs as members of the IYRP Global Alliance to refine and improve it. Please add more resolutions if you feel something is missing.

All comments received by 14th May 2025 will be incorporated into a final set of resolutions and submitted to the Congress by the Co-Chairs of the Global Alliance.

Thank you.
