We are pleased to inform you that the motion titled “Conservation and sustainable management of rangelands and pastoralism”, for which we at Yolda Initiative led the drafting process, has been accepted without any changes by the IUCN Motions Working Group, following a technical review of its scientific and technical content. It is one of only 109 motions accepted out of 200 submitted.

The motion directly refers to the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) and highlights the role of our Alliance.

The next step is the online discussion phase, where IUCN constituents are invited to:

  *   Express support

  *   Raise concerns

  *   Discuss pros and cons

  *   Submit amendments

This process is open ahead of the electronic vote by IUCN Members in August–September 2025, and eventual endorsement at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi, 9–15 October 2025.

We kindly encourage all members of the IYRP Global Alliance who are IUCN Members, National Committee representatives, or Commission members to log in to the Congress website <https://iucncongress2025.org> and express their support for the motion. You can do so by:

  1.  Clicking on the “Exercise member rights” tab

  2.  Selecting “View and discuss motions”
