Perspectives on Pastoralism Film Festival – CALL FOR FILMS for 3rd edition

Pastoralists produce food on more than half the world’s land, yet their contributions often go unrecognised. By caring for their animals and the environment, pastoralists practise a form of agroecology most suited to drylands and mountainous areas. With their local knowledge refined and adapted over generations, they are leading the way toward sustainable food production systems

We invite documentary, narrative or animated films in four thematic categories:

1.     General (submit by 4 Sept 2024)
2.     Camelids (submit by 6 Dec 2023 for International Year of Camelids 2024)
3.     Biodiversity & Conservation (submit by 4 June 2024)
4.     Pastoralist Women & Girls (submit by 4 Sept 2024)
We seek films that:

•       are made by individuals or groups who identify themselves as pastoralist and/or
•       bring pastoralists' perspectives on their life and livelihood system and/or
•       sensitively portray issues faced within pastoralist societies and/or
•       address broader issues faced in regions where pastoralism is practised and/or
•       reflect the role of mobility in pastoralism
If the film is not in English, it should have English captions.
