Join  the launch of the first-ever global atlas on rangelands on Monday May 26th  2021, 2-3pm (CET). This Rangelands Atlas brings together big data sets on rangelands and related issues, projected through 16 sets of maps, together with facts and figures generated from the mapping process, and local case studies. It has been developed to document and raise awareness on the enormous environmental, economic and social value of rangelands as well as their different ecosystems. It highlights how rangelands are distributed, which rangelands are homes to threatened species, the predicted effects of climate change on nature and food production, and other changes that have and could take place.

This first-ever global Rangelands Atlas is a collaborative initiative of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the global Rangelands Initiative of the International Land Coalition (ILC). 

Along with the author organisations, speakers in the event will include Ibrahim Thiaw, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and Drought.
