Dear Maryam,
Thank you for sharing the document and updates.
I wish to confirm RECONCILE’s support on the same since this is consistent with most of the work we are doing and indeed mobility is critical now more than ever in the ASALs of the Kenya and in the Sahara.
Equally, together with Concern Worldwide, CELEP and Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC) we are organizing a pre-summit dialogue which is part of building the momentum towards the UNFSS.
Let me know what you would want from RECONCILE and we shall provide.
Ken

Subject: [IYRPsupportgroup] Game Changing Idea for submission to UNFSS - for urgent review
Dear IYRP supporters.
In preparation for the upcoming UN Food Systems Summit, we have decided to submit a "Game-changer Idea" on pastoral mobility. With many thanks to Saverio Kratli, Pablo Manzano and Ann Waters-Bayer who stepped in at the last minute, we have developed a draft proposal for "a Transformational Global Initiative for Mobile Pastoralism Valuing Rangeland Variability".
We seek your review of this idea, and invite your organization to confirm your support by agreeing to be named as a supporting organization in the proposal.
Please respond by 10th May at the latest, and I am very sorry for such a last minute request. I know it will be difficult to obtain organizational support in such a short time for many of you, but even a tentative indication would be of value. Please note that the proposal has been written in the Form required by UNFSS and all yellow highlighted text is part of the Form. I also apologize for not having time to translate this to other languages right now.
We have also been active on a few other fronts:
1. There have been many Actions/Solutions suggested in the Action Track papers of the UNFSS. We have conducted a review of these and submitted comments to UNFSS, through the assistance of ILRI, that point to how we can ensure that pastoralists and rangelands benefit from these actions and solutions.
2. ILRI and GASL are organizing an independent dialogue on livestock sustainability. More information to follow.
3. UNFSS Public Forums = I shared information with you yesterday on how you can participate in these Public Fora ; please do consider doing so.
4. Hijaba Ykhanbai of Mongolia has been nominated as a UNFSS Champion for Pastoralists and has been actively engaging in different ways. Many thanks and congratulations to Hijaba for his efforts, as it appears that the UNFSS secretariat has taken note and is doing more to reach pastoralists. Hijaba, please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help you to bring more pastoralist voices to this process.
5. UNFSS National Dialogues = If you are engaging in the National Dialogues, please let us know.
Looking forward to getting your feedback on the Game Changer Idea by 10th May. Please do not reply all, as that will send too many emails to peoples' inboxes. I will consolidate all comments and share with all.
Thank you
Maryam Niamir-Fuller
Vice Chair of ISG
