Dear Friends of the IYRP,

There has been interest among the IYRP community in gaining a broader
understanding of the terms used for "rangelands" and "pastoralists" around
the world.  These are words that are synonyms and metonyms used to describe
these terms but that are more reflective of local culture.  To this end, the
IYRP Communications Team has prepared a survey to first identify these terms
in English with the expectation that there will be additional surveys to
gain this same information for the other official UN languages.  Our plan is
to create 'word clouds' that can be used for a variety of purposes by
everyone.  

This is a very brief survey and many terms have already been listed.  Please
review the list and let us know what other terms should be included.  There
is also a question about the search engines you use as it will be helpful to
know local and regional preferences.  

Your response by 15 March, 2021 would be most appreciated.  Please also
distribute to your Regional IYRP Support Group members and others as may be
appropriate.
