[IYRPsupportgroup] IYRP Resolutions at IGC/IRC in Nairobi 2020

Dear ISG Members –



Below is a draft of the two Resolutions we would be looking to submit to the Continuing Committees of both IRC and IGC at the 2020 IGC/IRC in Nairobi in October of this year for passage at the Final Business Meeting on Friday of the Congress..  We would like your comments and suggestions to these to prepare us for the Concurrent Panel we will be presenting/holding in Nairobi at the Congress.  At that Concurrent Panel we will be soliciting more input and support not just for the Resolutions but for activity that would take place both prior to and during the Year as outreach and research efforts.



Resolution 1.

Individual Continuing Committee members of the International Rangeland Congress will be responsible for developing action plans concerning the activities that will be conducted prior to and during the International Year of Rangeland and Pastoralists (IYRP) in the countries that they represent.  This effort will be in conjunction with rangeland workers in those individual countries.  These activities will coincide with the monthly themes developed by the International Steering Committee of the IYRP.





Resolution 2.

The Continuing Committee (CC) of the International Rangeland Congresses (IRC) will establish a Sub-Committee responsible for identifying research efforts needed to address the finding of the GAP Analysis conducted by UNEA.  This Sub-Committee will report to both the CC of IRC as well as the International Support Group (ISG) of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP).
