Sorry...I missed Canada off the list - Canada is an important ally for the IYRP and will not be missed!

Subject: Update on UNEA
Dear All,
I am writing to give you a brief update on UNEA. Unfortunately neither the planned side event or the booth got approval. So we are left with the holding of the ministerial breakfast meeting. A Taskforce was established of those who will be in Nairobi, together with some colleagues from Mongolia, to organise the event. As it stands:
1. A list of priority countries has been established as below to whom UN Environment (Abdelkader) will be sending out invitations. We would like the Ministers themselves to attend rather than ambassadors or other. Abdelkader will share the list of those that have been invited once this has been done. Please do check with us before inviting anyone else as space is limited and we would like to have a manageable smallish group to enable a good discussion with priority given to those countries whose support is a priority for the IYRP. It has not been possible to include all countries with rangelands and pastoralists so we have had to pick out those that are strategically important at this stage to the IYRP approval process.
2. The agenda of the breakfast meeting will be kept to: welcome from Dana Kelly, presentation from Minister of Environment Mongolia, presentation from Katherine on gap analysis, presentation from Kenya minister on resolution, followed by discussion facilitated by Shirley Tarawali, Dep-DG ILRI.
3. Some stand-alone posters with key messages on IYRP are being produced by Barbara and which ILRI will print in Nairobi for use at UNEA and other events after.
4. A representative from the Mongolia Federation of Pasture User Groups will also attend the breakfast meeting to support the Mongolian government who will present their plans for the IYRP. A Member of Mongolian parliament will also join.
5. ILRI and UN Environment will be doing publicity around the event.
6. Some key resource people based in Nairobi will also be invited to join the breakfast meeting to raise important questions in the discussion.
As it is quite a hectic time for us, please only get in touch with me as contact person for the Breakfast Meeting if have any strong requests or concerns - in order to limit emails.
Also I do emphasise the request of the moderator of this googlegroup to not "copy all" in your replies unless of relevance to the whole group, and not to say "thank-you" to the whole group for emails sent! I know it is lovely to say thank-you but if everyone did it we would be spending our whole time dealing with emails and never have any time to do what we are meant to be doing!
Thanks so much,
Fiona
