[IYRP General List] PASTRES has paved the way to IYRP2026 - final newsletter of PASTRES programme

Dear all,

The 6-year programme on Pastoralism, Uncertainty, Resilience (PASTRES) funded by the European Research Council has come to an end. It produced many books, papers, policy briefs, blogs etc that will be useful for the IYRP alliance - and the programme saw itself as contributing to the preparation for the Year, as written at the bottom of this final newsletter:

> We hope that through our research, networking and policy engagement we have contributed in a small way to generating and promoting a new, positive narrative on pastoralism and extensive livestock more generally, with variability and uncertainty at the centre. We hope the UN International Year for Rangelands and Pastoralists <https://steps-centre.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9254a411e4220fde61f078a32&id=576999f027&e=6c225d9b98> in 2026 will pick this up and ensure that this is central to policymaking globally.

And we in the IYRP Global Secretariat hope that the people who were involved in PASTRES will continue their good work together with us in the years up to and including - and after - the IYRP 2026.

> When we started, we set ourselves an ambitious task – to generate ‘global lessons from the margins’ through understanding how pastoralists navigate uncertainty in diverse settings around the world.
