While this three-day event is not directly related to the IYRP initiative, there are elements of it that resonate well with the issues the IYRP is addressing.  On day 2, Maryam Niamir-Fuller will be a featured speaker.  Registration is free but required.  Conference schedule runs from 11:00am – 2:00pm EDT each day.

To commemorate 30 years of collaboration on arid lands issues, the International Arid Lands Consortium (IALC) is hosting a three-day international conference on arid lands. Convened virtually on 24-26 May 2021, the conference will celebrate IALC collaborative research and demonstration projects and examine current and future challenges in IALC’s regions of focus. A key goal of the conference is to underscore the value of the IALC mission: promoting peace through collaborative research and demonstration projects in the arid lands of the world. Keynote presentations and panel discussions will emphasize the broader value of collaborative-multinational research and problem-solving to address issues that confront the sustainable use and management of arid lands globally.
