<div dir="ltr">Dear GCG Members<div>So far we have received only two nominations for this position, and the deadline was last friday.  These are:</div><div><br></div><div>1. <b>Igshaan Samuels</b>., who currently volunteers as a Co-Chair of the Eastern and Southern Africa RISG.  He was nominated by Ann Waters-Bayer, who provided the justification in her email to the GCG of 24th May. </div><div><br></div><div>2. <b>Francesca Pasetti,</b> who is the International Project Manager for Concejo de la Mesta, Spain and Focal Point for Spain Nomination Transhumance UNESCO ICH. She nominated herself, and provided the following justification:</div><div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">"<i>I am proposing myself for this co-chair, together with you. I let you consider me: I think you already have an Idea of what I am able to do for IYRP. I think the fact that I speak 5 languages makes it very easy to speak with all the IYRP Regional Offices, and coordinate actions with them. I have to have time for working, but I am willing to spend my free  time for this interesting and very important role.</i>"</div></div><div><br></div><div>We had agreed that once the nominations were in, the <b><u>GCG members </u></b>would make a selection. </div><div><br></div><div>You will have also seen the many emails that have come in from the ISG partners endorsing Igshaan Samuels as the next Co-Chair.  Pablo has endorsed both candidates, but there has not been any other endorsement for Francesca.</div><div><br></div><div>I therefore would like to propose the following for the agreement of GCG Members (copied here; please only reply to this email): </div><div><br></div><div><b>>>  that Igshaan Samuels is confirmed as the new Co-Chair of the GCG.</b></div><div><br></div><div>Unless I hear a dissent from any of you within the next few days, then we can conclude that this decision has been taken.  </div><div><br></div><div>For my part, I am very pleased to be working alongside Igshaan as the next two Co-Chairs for 2022.  I also thank Anne for the nomination, and the Eastern and Southern Africa ESA RISG for their endorsement and willingness to let Igshaan move to a global level. </div><div><br></div><div>Best regards</div><div><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr">*...*...*...*<div>Dr. Maryam Niamir-Fuller<div>Vice Chair of International Support Group for the IYRP</div><div><br></div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><i><span style="font-size:10pt;color:black;background-image:initial;background-position:initial;background-repeat:initial">Support the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026  <a href="https://www.iyrp.info" target="_blank">https://www.iyrp.info</a></span></i><i><span style="font-size:10pt"><u></u><u></u></span></i></p>
