HI Igshaan, So can you confirm how many co-chairs there will be altogether then?
I believe another important factor is also to have youth representation – not sure of ages of the two below but hoping that they are youthful 😊
Best
Fiona

Subject: [Iyrp-gcg] IYRP co-chair elections outcome
Dear IYRP- GCG
Best wishes to you all for 2024!
Regarding the co-chair elections, we received 29 votes from the GCG on who should be the two additional co-chairs of the IYRP ISP. Thus, the majority of GCG members voted and we thank all of those who took the time to cast their vote. Attached are the final results of the elections. One criterion we set out to award a co-chair position, was that the candidate should at least receive a simple majority of the votes casted. Considering this, only Carlos Enrique Michaud received more than 50% (51.72% to be exact) of the votes and thus qualified for a co-chair position.
However, in the most recent GCG meeting, we stressed the need to have more women playing leading roles in the IYRP ISP global secretariat. The candidate who received the second most votes (41.38% to be exact) was Burmaa Dashball from Mongolia. This is double the amount of votes than the third placed position. I am therefore proposing (and members of the global secretariat are in agreement) that we award Burmaa Dashbal the second co-chair position. Motivating factors included that we need gender balance; that she is from Mongolia and we would need to work closely with Mongolia to ensure we are on the same page on the key messages we want to sent out to the world and where implementing IYRP actions are concerned, Burmaa is also an expert in her own right and that she would be able to make valuable contributions to the IYRP cause. The co-chair election has also taken a bit of time and we want to conclude this matter soonest and move forward with planning and implementation.
Therefore, we are proposing that both Enrique and Burmaa be awarded the co-chair positions but if there are any objections to this proposal, please let me know by 13 Jan 2024 before I let the candidates know the outcome of the elections and decisions of the GCG.
Kind regards,
IYRP ISP co-chair
