[Iyrp-gcg] Strategic action with national governments and regional bodies

Dear Isghaan,

At the GCG meeting could we get an update on what regions are doing to engage with national governments in order to prepare them for IYRP, and then more generally what commitments are we looking for in IYRP for which national preparation/groundwork is  needed in a more systematic way such as dialogues, influencing and engagement….

I think we need to think what are the big figure commitments by governments, donors, investors, global platforms/conventions we want to see in 2026, what are the pathways to this and what needs to be done in preparation. I may have missed discussions on this previously but it seems that we may have a bit of gap in this regard…..

Dear All,

I would like to propose a new working group and that is one on developing a new rangelands basemap – the idea is to end up with a map of different categories of rangelands types with types defined based on ecology, land use and cultural identities. Not quite sure yet how we will get there, but probably have to work on a country level with country-level (or regional) teams categorizing the different types of rangelands and approximate distributions of these across a country/region.

Perhaps this can be discussed in the GCG meeting.
