You are right Fiona. For those interested, here's a more detailed overview of the process we followed for the co-chair election (for the period between mid-2023 & mid-2024) within the European RISG. As Fiona mentioned, we adhered to set deadlines for each step.

A. Initially, the current co-chairs initiated the process by inviting members to submit (self)nominations for the following roles:

1. one co-chair from a pastoralist supporting organisation
2. one co-chair from female pastoralists
3. one co-chair from male pastoralists

It was a prerequisite that the nominees be members of the RISG.

B. Once nominations were received, we asked the nominated members to confirm whether they were willing to accept the nominations or not.

C. Confirmed nominees were then requested to provide the following:
1. a brief biography
2. a short speech (either in the form of a text or a simple recording) on what they intended to bring to the leadership role, emphasizing their commitment to actively lead and dedicate time to the responsibilities.

D. Subsequently, we distributed the online voting poll to all members, enabling them to cast their votes for their preferred nominees for each role. To maintain the integrity of the process, all responses were kept anonymous. Nevertheless, we ensured that IP addresses were cross-checked to prevent any duplications.

E. The results of the election were shared in the form of a report, which included the number of votes received by each nominee and we officially announced the winning nominees to the membership.

All the best,

Engin

> Received nominations by a set date
> Those nominated confirmed whether they wished to accept that nomination or not
> Those that accepted presented their credentials, experience and reasons for wanting to chair
> Voting then took place (a blind voting)

This is because we are moving closer to 2026 and the workload will be more for the co-chairs and basically for everyone who is involved in IYRP activities.
