[Iyrp-gcg] Fwd: Request upstream review of proposal for SNAPP 2022

Dear GCG members

You will recall that at the last GCG meeting Igshaan and I talked about the
availability of SNAPP funding for establishing science-based working
groups, and a small group of us agreed to work on it. With many thanks to
the members of the small group, please see attached the brief outline that
we have submitted for upstream review by SNAPP, for your information.  At
this stage we expect only to find out whether the proposal is in line with
SNAPP's focus and direction. A positive upstream review does not guarantee
a successful funding.

The list of organizations participating in the proposal is only tentative,
and we have not had the chance to consult the ISG and GCG for your
interests to participate because of the rush to get in the upstream review.
The final deadline for formal submission is 15th December. We will know by
May 2023 if our application is successful. So we have plenty of time still
to fine tune and finalize this work and seek your participation.

Even if we are unable to secure SNAPP funding as proposed, I am sure that
we will continue with establishing these new Working groups and will seek
support from the IYRP network in other ways.
