Thank you Jim, Ann, Barb and Maryam, you have all done an amazing job, that has helped us all to move forward but we have not yet reached the launching pad.

Hence, I think a complete change of you four in this crucial moment in time, is a mistake and a recipe for collapse. May I suggest that you consider stepping down gradually.

Many of us have been pushing this agenda since 2008 and before, I was also at Hohhot, in fact, I drafted the initial version of IUCN´s Hohhot Declaration<https://www.iucn.org/sites/dev/files/import/downloads/hohhot_declaration_july_9_08.pdf>, and I think that now,  more than ever, we must stay together.

As we celebrate the declaration by the UNGA it is time that we reconstitute the Core Team.  The 4 of us, Maryam Niamir Fuller, Ann Waters Bayer, Barbara Hutchinson and I will be stepping down from the lead roles and need to have others fill these roles.  It has been a long 14 years since the beginning and especially the last 7 years for us and it is time for others to take over.  We all 4 will continue to be involved in various ways to support you.

Please see the attached for roles needed filling.
