[Iyrp-gcg] GCG: calling for the next meeting

Dear GCG members

We would like to call for a GCG meeting. Please see doodle poll below. The
purpose is to discuss:

1)  UNGA 76th Session is around the corner.
While we do not yet know exactly when the IYRP proposal will be tabled for
discussion, we do know that it will be sometime in the period of
Oct-December, and it will entail several weeks of discussion until a
consensus is reached among Member States. We will discuss progress in
reaching ministries of foreign affairs.

2)  Government of Mongolia has requested that we try to 'monetize' the
commitments that have been written down by over 50 organizations in
their letters of support to the IYRP proposal.  A rough estimate is all
that is needed. I will prepare a draft, and seek your kind support in
finalizing it, including agreement on parameters and scope. We want a
product that can stand up to scrutiny. The draft will be sent  to you in
due course.

3)  Many partners of IYRP are already working to raise awareness about
rangelands and pastoralism. We have received a request from Ilse
Koehler-Rollefson and Paul Mundy for IYRP to endorse a "Pastoralism
Interactive Map" that is under preparation. We also know (and perhaps you
do as well) that there may be other initiatives that could be pulled
together to support this. We can ask Paul and Ilse to present this
initiative and discuss how best the ISG can get involved.
