13:03:43 From Dawn Gouge : FYI antibody testing for folks in Pima County can now register https://covid19antibodytesting.arizona.edu/home. what is the official status of the President’s Furlough plan? Specifically has it been reviewed by ABOR? Did they have comments? Are alternatives being considered? Many of us are far more concerned about the effect on direct reports than ourselves since most earn less than we do. I appreciate the sliding scale, but personally feel that the higher income earners (> 80K) could sustain a more significant burden a little easier than the $50-80K workforce. 13:08:28 From Melanie Hingle : Our Monday meeting: https://facultygovernance.arizona.edu/committee/meetings/faculty-senate-meeting4504 13:09:28 From Patricia L Sparks : at what time on Monday? 13:09:36 From Melanie Hingle : 3pm Monday 13:14:21 From Horst Dieter Steklis : Furlough, as I understand it will require 9 mos. appointed faculty (like myself) to begin filling out timesheets beginning in Fall 2020. For us teaching faculty, who are already overburdened, couldn’t this additional bit of paperwork and record-keeping have been handled with an algorithm by central administration (HR?), so that the appropriate amount is automatically withheld for each pay period? It could be done on an opt-in basis, allowing faculty who want to do it themselves can do so. 13:16:55 From Melanie Hingle : @Dawn - ABOR approved the furlough plan; details are still being worked out by HR 13:18:26 From Horst Dieter Steklis : So, are they considering such an “algorithm” to circumvent the necessity of filling out timesheets? 13:18:26 From Melanie Hingle : @Dieter - interesting suggestion - although the final details have not been released, the way it’s been structured thus far is to provide maximum flexibility as to when folks can take furlough; an automated process doesn’t allow fine tuning 13:18:55 From Horst Dieter Steklis : Opting-in will allow fine-tuning. 13:19:24 From Melanie Hingle : Agreed 13:22:13 From Bethany S Rutledge : Popping in with a question that was emailed to me: Can you tell me what is the official status of the President’s Furlough plan? Specifically has it been reviewed by ABOR? Did they have comments? Are alternatives being considered? Many of us are far more concerned about the effect on direct reports than ourselves since most earn less than we do. I appreciate the sliding scale, but personally feel that the higher income earners (> 80K) could sustain a more significant burden a little easier than the $50-80K workforce. 13:23:07 From Netzin Gerald Steklis : I am sure you recognize the tremendous effort it will take to convert lectures to 10min clips— but we cannot do that do that during the summer since many PoPs are on 9 month contract. How do we address that conundrum ? 13:24:07 From Melanie Hingle : @Bethany, I answered the furlough plan question above — ABOR verbally approved the furlough plan; details are still being worked out by HR 13:24:48 From Bethany S Rutledge : Thank you, Melanie, I'll pass that on to the person who emailed me. Have a great meeting! 13:27:02 From Russell B Toomey : How can equity be ensured if it is so individualized per guidelines re: workloads? 13:30:06 From Luciano Matzkin : Are course caps going to increase if we do all the courses in a hybrid format? 13:31:34 From Ashlee L Linares-Gaffer : I am very excited about more hybrid courses. We can put excellent online courses forward with the added bonus of a synchronous meeting to do interactive application 13:35:56 From Goggy Davidowitz : Will CALS have resources online about how to build hybrid courses? 13:36:58 From Angela Kaczowka : I can't speak for CALS, but there are talks of offering some online FLC's this summer to discuss good practices for hybrid courses 13:37:28 From Kamel Didan : What are CALS plans to help people who never thought they would do Labs/hands on online (I am still not even sure how that would work out) Legality (safety), Kits, training, resources? 13:40:21 From Kayle Skorupski : Angela - Arin Haverland and I are in the process of developing such a resource/opportunity for CALS 13:43:49 From Charlette Padilla : Thank you for the information - I am off to another meeting also remember the Open Education Resources 13:45:19 From Richard P. Rosen : Came on late - don't know if question has been asked. What is faculty member is uncomfortable with safety precautions come fall/ How will this be treated? 13:45:44 From Arin Haverland : Kayle and I are developing a CALS Digital and Distance Professional Learning Community as she mentioned - The PLC will be inclusive for instructional faculty as well as open to others e.g. extension, outreach, advisors etc so they have pathways to distance and digital tools and resources in tandem with OIA,D2L, DL etc 13:47:43 From Netzin Gerald Steklis : If we are to convert all our currently listed courses to either online or hybrid, can this be changed in UAccss this late (since some students are already enrolled in regular face2face classes) 13:48:04 From Dawn Gouge : Thank you 13:48:08 From Arin Haverland : The OIA/DL trainings are at: https://oia.arizona.edu/content/8 13:48:45 From Cathy L Martinez : Thanks
