what is the official status of the President’s Furlough plan? Specifically has it been reviewed by ABOR? Did they have comments? Are alternatives being considered? Many of us are far more concerned about the effect on direct reports than ourselves since most earn less than we do. I appreciate the sliding scale, but personally feel that the higher income earners (> 80K) could sustain a more significant burden a little easier than the $50-80K workforce.

For us teaching faculty, who are already overburdened, couldn’t this additional bit of paperwork and record-keeping have been handled with an algorithm by central administration (HR?), so that the appropriate amount is automatically withheld for each pay period? It could be done on an opt-in basis, allowing faculty who want to do it themselves can do so.
